SS14

April 18 2010

1. A new day.

2. I never had a good relationship with Photoshop. I dislike the complication that comes along. I also admit (though this is very hard to admit) i need to know the simple button’s function.  I am amused with myself when i discovered that i am self denying about it.

3. A week before holiday, teacher organized photoshop lesson. I really appreciated his effort. It managed to wake me up from a good night sleep. I need to do something about enhancing my relationship with photoshop. It will bring me good. I can sense that.

Semporna-Pulau Omadal-Pulau Maiga

4th November-9th November 2009

1. This was my first photography expedition. I joined KML’s photographers. It was challenging and interesting as well. I discovered a lot during this journey.

2. It was scary in the first place, being the only female in the group. I have to set my mind that this is what i want, and i must be brave . This is not about female or male things. This is about polishing and improving my skills. The opportunity to go to the ground and shoot. Or else i will not be able to measure my development. Sometimes a person has to sit for a trial in order to measure his achivement.

3.It was also my first trip discovering Sabah and the islands. One thing for sure, it takes time and money to move from one place to another here. From Labuan to Menumbok by speedboat. From Menumbok to KK by express bus. From KK to Station Bus by van. From the station bus to Semporna, another express bus. From Semporna to the islands, by boat. You can do the math here.

4. Living in Labuan for a year, taught me a lot of things. How to live a life with limitations. No electricity. No water. No mega mall. So when i am exposed to such situations, i can accept the fact that, living in Sabah is no different.  Dont be such a spoil brat, complaining this and that. Asking for things that provide you comfort back at home will not bring any relief. I am learning about appreciation here for what i have back at home. Comparing home and here.

5. The places are nicer here in a way. I tend to appreciate peace and nature more. These i hardly found in my hometown. It cant be bought by cash or credit cards. At one stage, i do appreciating the opportunity to live here. To work here. To be here.

6. I also discovered about the sea gypsy or also known as palauk. The tribe which live on the sea in a boat. Some of them are moving and living along the beach. But still some of them, are living on the sea. Believe it or not, there are still people who live in such way.  Their lifestyle is simple. With a descent hut. A humble sampan. No needs for luxurious item to complicate their life. The basic life of a human being can be seen here.
